Veterinary Exam

Periodic checkups provide you the chance to address any changes in your pet's health.

Veterinary exams give us a chance to check your pet’s health. Animals are unique and remarkable in the sense that when they aren’t well their first instincts are to hide any sign of weakness, this is why wellness exams are so important. A veterinary exam puts pet parents and veterinarians on the same page about the pet’s well-being. Regardless of your pet’s age, they can all benefit from a veterinary checkup as we can spot an issue and treat it sooner than later.

What happens during a veterinary exam?

During a wellness exam, we check your pet from nose to tail. The veterinarian will check their fur, skin, paw, mouth, ears and eyes looking for anything that needs medical attention. We also check your pet’s weight and breathing. The veterinarian will ask questions about their diet, eating schedule, if they’ve shown any signs of illness, what their bowel movements are like, and more. This is also the perfect time for you to ask questions and express any concerns you have about your pet’s care or development. If your pet is due for a veterinary exam, please give us a call at 613-829-0220 or 613-843-1334.

How often should my pet come for a veterinary exam?

Your loyal companion will benefit from having annual veterinary exams. Each year your pet goes through a lot of changes, some of them so subtle that it’s easy to be missed. This is where our veterinarians can help, we are experts at catching the changes your pet goes through and will provide treatment or recommendations as necessary. Some pets are more vulnerable, so they require more wellness exams throughout the year. Puppies and kittens need three exams in one year. Seniors and pets with known medical issues need at least two visits to keep an eye on their health.
