Vaccines for Kittens & Cats

Keep your feline friend safe from serious diseases with a personalized vaccination plan.

Vaccines protect your pet from various diseases that can be deadly. These injections stimulate your pet’s immune system which makes them create antibodies against diseases. All cats whether they stay indoors or explore their surroundings need vaccines. We offer all the vaccines mandatory for cats and other ones that your pet may need for protection based on their unique environment. We encourage you to speak with our veterinary care team to establish a vaccine schedule for your pet. Call us at 613-829-0220 or 613-843-1334.

What vaccines are necessary for kittens and cats?

Some vaccines are absolutely necessary because they protect from diseases that can be deadly and have a high transmission rate. There are two core vaccines all cats must have: FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis Calicivirus and Panleukopenia) and Rabies. Even if your cat stays indoors their natural instincts are to hunt and roam outside where they can be exposed to these fatal diseases.

What other vaccines might be recommended for my pet?

Non-core vaccines are recommended as necessary by veterinarians. We consider where your pet lives, their lifestyle and whether they come in contact with other cats. Your pet may need Feline Leukemia (FeLV) especially if they go outside. This disease is transmitted by blood and saliva. It weakens your cat’s immune system which makes them vulnerable to other diseases. Your pet may develop anemia, lymphoma and other serious ailments as a result.

When should they be vaccinated?

Your cat should not go outside or socialize until they are vaccinated. Kittens should be vaccinated when they are 8 to 16-weeks-old. These vaccines are administered in doses. One year after completing their “kitten series”, they are eligible for boosters. Our team will determine which boosters your pet needs.
