Dr. Katharine (Katie) Jones graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 2004. She was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley and came back to her hometown immediately following her graduation. She has a special interest in feline behaviour, senior canine and feline care, medicine, diabetes, and dentistry. In 2011, Dr. Jones founded Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue, a registered charitable organization with a mandate of finding forever homes for stray cats and managing the feral cat population in the National Capital Region. Over the years, Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue has flourished finding loving forever homes for thousands of cats in need.
In 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Dr. Jones received the Faces Magazine awards for “Ottawa’s Favourite Veterinarian.” In 2018, she was the recipient of one of Ottawa’s “Inspiration Awards” for her commitment to animals’ needs. Dr. Jones was presented with the Ottawa Humane Society’s 2019 Muriel Davies Kindness Award in recognition of her “outstanding contribution to animal welfare.” Her hobbies are animal rescue volunteer work, gardening (both vegetable and perennials), reading, and spending time with family and cats.
